چکیده
Purpose: Oral mucositis (OM) is a common, debilitating complication of conditioning regimens for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Supersaturated calcium phosphate rinse (SCPR) and palifermin have shown efficacy in preventing severe OM. However, whether their differs unknown. We aimed to compare the SCPR HSCT patients receiving myeloablative conditioning. Methods: A comprehensive review our institutional database was performed identify who received myeloablative-conditioning therapy over 5 years. All radiotherapy-based either or within study period were included. Most Fludarabine, Busulfan, total body irradiation (FBT). Patients divided into two groups based on OM prophylactic agent received. The primary outcome prevalence (WHO Grade 3 4). secondary outcomes are all-grade WHO 4 These compared between groups. Results: identified 26 122 prophylaxis. World Health Organization (WHO) significantly lower group (57% vs. 100%, p = 0.01). In addition, had (22% 62%, 0.0006). overall not different (86% 100% arm, 0.15). Subgroup analyses demonstrated improved with palifermin, regardless age, sex, disease status, donor type, diagnosis. Conclusion: When SCPR, use associated reduced severity

Oral mucositis is a common morbidity induced by radiation therapy and chemo-radiotherapy for head and neck malignancies. This often results in treatment delays, premature treatment cessation and increased cost. New treatments of oral mucositis are emerging but effective remedies remain limited. Between February 2007 and May 2008, 21 patients with head and neck malignancies were treated with a s...

Background: Mucositis is an important adverse effect of cancer treatment. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of ice cubes on oral mucositis following head and neck radiotherapy. Materials and Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted on 40 head and neck cancer patients who underwent radiotherapy. The patients were randomly divided into two experimental and control gr...

Oral mucositis is one of the most common side effects of cancer treatment (chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy). It is an inflammatory process that affects the mucosa of the oral cavity, giving rise to erythematous areas in combination with ulcers that can reach a large size. The true importance of oral mucositis is the complications it causes - fundamentally intense pain associated to the oral ul...

Aim of the study Herein, this meta-analysis study evaluated the efficacy of palifermin after HSCT on the incidence and severity of OM or aGVHD in hematologic malignancy patients in randomized clinical trials (RCTs). Materials and methods To compare the efficacy of palifermin on adverse events, OM and aGVHD compared with placebo, we searched databases of PubMed/Medline, Web of Science and Coch...
